The History of Rareware

In 1982 there was a company called United Play the Game. Their first game was about a spaceman trying to build a rocket ship but while you are doing that, alien ships keep on attacking. That was very popular about that time. They were looking forward to their new console from Nintendo so they made a deal with Nintendo but then the console got cancelled because it was only for one game. Then the NES came out so United Play the Game teamed up with Nintendo and they changed their  name to Rareware. So in 1994, Rareware wanted to make a game by Nintendo and then Nintendo told them to publish a game about Donkey Kong - that game was called Donkey Kong Country. The release was so popular that they made more games like Diddy Kong's quest and Dixie Kong's Double Trouble. Then Nintendo was working on a new console called the Nintendo 64. Their first game was the first person shooter game called Golden Eye. And so then they came out with a game called Diddy Kong Racing. That game was so popular that they came out with the characters own games like Banjo and Conker. Rareware was working on a game called Banjo Kazooie for the Super Nintendo Entertainments System. It took longer than Rareware Expected so they decided to switch to the N64. The release was so popular that they had a sequel two years after called Banjo Tooie.
This is the old Rareware logo

September 2002, Rareware was purchased by Microsoft so multiple Nintendo games were cancelled. Now Microsoft is working on Rareware games that aren't very good like Viva Pinata.
This is the new "Rare" logo

Here is an interesting video about how Microsoft "killed" Rare:

Here are a couple of pictures with Conker, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong with the Rareware logo:

Sonic Thinks You Are Cool...

Here is a picture from Banjo Kazooie and from Diddy Kong Racing. I love Banjo so much because he is in Banjo Kazooie and in Conker's Bad Fur Day. Banjo makes a funny sound - "Duh-Huh."

Banjo was one of the first Rareware characters. He was one of the most popular. His game "Banjo Pilot" actually took place within the game "Diddy Kong Pilot."

He is an interesting early video game star - you should definitely read more about him and the rest of the Rareware crew!

The picture below is of Banjo's sidekick Kazooie who is supposed to be a girl but I think it's a boy
Silas: Leo, it's a girl!
Leo: It's a boy!

Banjo and Kazooie get along really well and work together to solve the game.
Banjo doesn't like it when Kazooie makes fun of him and bottles:

Disturbing Sonic - ACK!

If you like Sonic the Hedgehog, make sure you don't look at one of his classic images - it's disturbing.

here is the large image:

and here is the close up - pretty disturbing!

Donkey Kong Country

Did you know that Donkey Kong Country is the first Rareware game of all time? And the most popular? What I like about this game is that it has really cool graphic designs and it's a classic - a-duh.

Here is a link to play it online and save your file. Enjoy!
